The Board of Aldermen holds Public Meetings on the 2nd Monday night of each month. The Board meets at 7pm at the Belhaven Civic Center, 257 West Pungo Street. These meetings are open to the public.
Public Comments Policy
Citizens are invited to participate in the Public Comment portion of the meeting. Citizens should sign-up upon arrival at the Board meeting to be recognized to speak.
Citizens will be allowed 3 minutes to speak on any issue of importance to them during the public comment portion of the meeting. The public comment portion of the Town Council Meetings are at the beginning of each meeting to allow for citizens to be heard in the most timely manner. No prior registration is required.
The Town Council will not take any action on items mentioned during public comments, but will reserve the right to take action at the following Town Council Meeting.
To have items considered by the Board of Aldermen, requests should be submitted to the Town Clerk at least 10 days prior to the meeting for inclusion on the upcoming agenda. Only persons who have signed up will be recognized during discussion of an agenda item.
